Blue wave, Japanese sea ring in sterling silver and chrysocolla

“Blue Wave” is a ring inspired by the ocean and its mysterious flows, designed around a claw-shaped chrysocolla cabochon. Its luminous light blue color evokes the clear waters of the Pacific. The cabochon resembles an aerial photograph of Japanese islands, with black, brown, and green inclusions stretching like a chain of lands emerging from the sea, floating amid the waves. It reads like a miniature map, a fragment of secret geography etched into the stone by nature itself.

The stone is highlighted by a simple bezel setting, placed on a plate of the same shape but slightly larger, like a protective border framing this marine landscape.

The ring’s saddle-shaped band features the traditional Japanese Seigaiha motif, also known as the “blue ocean wave.” Engraved on the metal, it unfolds concentric overlapping circles, forming a ballet of regular waves. This ancestral pattern, historically used in Chinese and Japanese maps to represent the sea, is deeply symbolic. It embodies peace, prosperity, quiet strength, and the continuity of life, much like the infinite flow of the ocean.

Thus, the ring becomes a tribute to the beauty of the Japanese seas, reflecting both serenity and boundless power. It captures the poetry of the waves, the tranquility of the islands, and the wisdom of Asian traditions, offering the wearer a jewel imbued with luck, balance, and inner peace.
