Sedna, fantastic whale brooch in sterling silver

This beautiful whale-shaped brooch is named "Sedna," in homage to the sea goddess of Inuit mythology, creator of all marine animals. Sedna is revered by the peoples of the far north for her generosity and her power to provide food, offering fish, seals, walruses, and whales, essential for their survival.

We chose to depict a fantastic whale to evoke this unique goddess, with a design inspired by the universe of Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, known for his poetic worlds filled with magical creatures. The brooch thus combines imagination, tradition, and modernity.

The whale’s silhouette is decorated with botanical motifs in the form of leaves and flowers, emphasizing its deep connection to nature. These details evoke fertility, rebirth, and abundance, symbols found in the stories associated with Sedna.
