Icelandic rune, Celtic Galdrastafir talisman pendant in silver

This solid sterling silver medallion, engraved on both sides, is a custom-made creation crafted with precision according to the specific wishes of a client. Each detail has been meticulously hand-worked to honor the deep symbolic intention behind the pendant.

The engraved motifs are Icelandic magical symbols known as Galdrastafir, also called "staves of spells." These sigils originate from 17th-century Icelandic grimoires such as the Galdrabók, a famous book of Icelandic magic. However, their roots reach much deeper—back to pagan traditions and magical practices of the medieval Nordic world.

These graphic talismans, influenced by Celtic and Nordic runic aesthetics, were historically used to invoke protection, luck, strength, or guidance. They reflect a unique blend of Nordic paganism, folk magic, and late Christian mysticism distinctive to Icelandic culture. Today, Galdrastafir remain a living part of the Nordic esoteric heritage, reimagined through art and jewelry.

The front of the pendant features the Ægishjálmur, or "Helm of Awe," a powerful protection symbol believed to grant invincibility in battle, courage, and mental strength. Warriors were said to paint it on their foreheads before combat to strike fear into their enemies.

On the back is engraved the Vegvísir, often referred to as the "runic compass." According to Icelandic lore, this magical symbol helps its bearer never lose their way, even in the fiercest storms—both literal and symbolic. It stands for guidance, inner direction, and the security of return.
