Quetzaly, mexican diamond earrings in silver

The "Quetzaly" earrings feature a motif deeply rooted in Mexican culture. Quetzaly is a Pre-Hispanic Aztec name meaning "beautiful woman."

On a diamond-shaped base, we have engraved a diamond motif bordered with iridescent triangles. This design is prevalent in numerous Mexican cultures and can be found on various Pre-Hispanic and contemporary artifacts, such as buildings, tombs, ceramics, clothing, and rugs. It has been prominently featured by the Huichol tribe from northern Mexico.

The Huichols call this motif "Ojo de Dios," or "God’s Eye" in Spanish. Originally, it was a woven object made from threads of different colors on a wooden cross. The Ojo de Dios motif, also known in the Huichol language as Sikulu or Tsikuri, means "the power to see and understand things unknown." It is believed to represent the god Kauyumari, the blue deer, who can see and comprehend all the mysteries of the universe.

This symbol takes the form of a diamond composed of bands of various colors, mounted on a cross whose branches are often decorated with tassels. This structure may symbolize the world at its center and the four cardinal points. According to legend, the Ojo de Dios allows the gods to see everything happening on earth through it. Traditionally, it is made by the father at the birth of a child, with each colored band representing a year of protection.

The "Quetzaly" earrings pay homage to this rich tradition and its powerful symbols, offering a touch of mysticism and ancestral beauty to the wearer. Crafted in fine silver, they combine timeless elegance with deep significance, honoring Mexican cultural heritage.
