Quetzalcóatl, Aztec pyramid pendant in silver and rainforest jasper

The "Quetzalcóatl" pendant is designed around a stunning rainforest jasper. This cabochon, shaped like a quarter, evokes a lush landscape, reminiscent of an ancient map depicting a fertile land nourished by abundant rains. Living in Mexico, our interpretation of this stone is strongly influenced by the local environment and its ancestral traditions.

The pendant is named after Quetzalcóatl, the feathered serpent, a major figure in Aztec civilization. The beautiful shades of green, both deep and light, reminded me of the skin of the mythical serpent, while the visible orbs in the stone suggest its shining eyes. Quetzalcóatl is also associated with agriculture, as he is said to have given corn, a sacred plant for Mesoamerican peoples, to humanity. He is also the god of civilization, knowledge, and culture. In Maya tradition, he is known as Kukulkan.

The pendant adopts a triangular shape, adorned with patterns inspired by Aztec iconography from Mexico. Its silhouette evokes the monumental pyramids built by the Aztecs, particularly those of the sacred precinct of Tenochtitlan, their capital. At the ends of the pendant, two circular motifs symbolize the two fundamental planes of Aztec cosmology: the sky and the underworld.

The back of the pendant is hollowed out with two circles to reveal the natural beauty of the stone from another angle, offering a dual perspective of this symbol-laden piece of jewelry.
