The "Persephone with Pomegranate" pendant is a custom creation that captures the full essence and mystery of the Greek myth of Persephone. Shaped like an open pomegranate, it reveals an interior engraved with geometric patterns. Two radiating circles evoke the sun, symbolizing Persephone’s duality: light and shadow, life and death, the eternal passage between the world of the living and the underworld.

A deep red garnet cabochon illuminates the pendant. Its intense color recalls pomegranate seeds, symbols of passion, abundance, and fertility. Garnet, a stone associated with vital energy and protection, enhances the spiritual grounding and symbolic power of this jewelry piece.

On the back, a quote from the Orphic hymn to Persephone is engraved:

"Ô persephone you nourish all always and kill them too."

This phrase, drawn from the Orphic hymns compiled in the 3rd century CE in Pergamon, reflects the goddess’s ambivalence, both nurturing and destructive, gentle and relentless.

According to legend, Persephone, daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest, was abducted by Hades to become queen of the underworld. Having eaten the pomegranate seeds, she became forever bound to the underworld, dividing her life between darkness and light. Six months with her mother bring spring and summer, and six months with Hades bring autumn and winter. In this way, Persephone embodies the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth, the passing of the seasons, and perpetual transformation.

The "Persephone with Pomegranate" pendant is an ode to Greek mythology, the power of symbols, and craftsmanship. It celebrates femininity, prosperity, and the eternal return, while honoring the beauty of ancient legends.
