Nectar, hummingbird necklace in silver and green sapphire

The hummingbird is a small, frequent visitor around our home in Mexico. These tiny birds often come to sip nectar in our garden, drawn by the vibrant flowers. We are always captivated by their delicate beauty—so fragile, so swift, and yet so radiant, with iridescent reflections that dance in the sunlight.

This enchanting little bird inspired the creation of this necklace, through a finely cut silhouette in a sheet of sterling silver. The hummingbird is shown in mid-flight, its wings frozen in motion, as if suspended in eternal lightness. It is soldered onto a silver circle, symbolizing both the sun and the moon—a duality of day and night, of energy and dream.

Its body is adorned with tiny details crafted from silver wire and discs, evoking the shifting bursts of light that play across its feathers. These delicate elements capture, in metal, the magical shimmer of its colorful reflections.

The necklace is strung on a fine silver chain, discreet and elegant, punctuated by two green sapphires. These stones add a touch of foliage, reminiscent of the tropical leaves where the hummingbird likes to rest, and bring a subtle sparkle, like two leaves kissed by light.

In many cultures, the hummingbird holds deep symbolic meaning. A messenger of joy, freedom, and resilience, it embodies the ability to find beauty in the small things and to savor each fleeting moment. It reminds us to stay curious, to keep our hearts open despite life's trials. Tireless and fast-winged, the hummingbird is also a bearer of hope, vitality, and love.
