Nebula, astronomy ring in silver and fire opal

"Nebula" is a silver ring centered around a Mexican Cantera fire opal, oval in shape and embedded in its natural white matrix marbled with red spots. Still encased in its host rock, the opal reveals a layer that shifts between milky opacity and crystalline transparency, allowing glimpses of vibrant inner flashes. Depending on the angle of the light, the stone glows with hues of blue, red, orange, or green, as if pulses of distant light are emerging from its depths.

This singular stone evokes the celestial phenomenon of nebulae — vast cosmic clouds of ionized gas, plasma, and stardust floating in the darkness of space. The opal's diffuse iridescence, suspended within its matrix, mirrors these ever-shifting shapes whose luminous colors seem both born from light and dissolving into it. With its milky veil and internal fire, the stone becomes a mineral metaphor for these stellar nurseries where stars are born and fade.

The opal is set on a silver base that extends beyond the stone itself, forming an arc that hosts tiny celestial symbols sculpted in silver discs. Two crescent moons and a series of overlapping circles — an abstract reference to planets and their rings — anchor the design further into an astronomical dreamscape, like a fragment of the sky resting on the hand.

Triangular prongs hold the stone in place, their shape resembling bursts or dark shards reaching out to envelop the light. They seem intent on capturing this cosmic beauty, either to guard it or hide it away in the depths of a silent, starlit night.
