Moss, forest sanctuary pendant in silver and malachite

The “Moss” pendant is built around an oval malachite cabochon, carefully selected for its natural patterns of concentric circles in deep green, shifting between dark and light hues in an almost hypnotic rhythm. This piece combines the vibrant energy of malachite with the delicate elegance of 925 silver, handcrafted in our workshop.

The malachite is set in a clean, minimalist bezel that follows the stone’s natural shape — like a refined case designed to enhance its innate beauty. It rests on a silver plate shaped to its contour, providing a stable and harmonious base. The bail alone stands out with its more intricate design: a slightly concave tube set horizontally, topped with a soldered half-circle that holds the ring for the chain.

This bail is inspired by the silhouette of the torii (鳥居), the traditional Japanese gate found at the entrance of Shinto shrines. A symbol of transition between the mundane and the sacred, the torii marks a spiritual threshold: passing through it means leaving behind everyday reality to step into a space imbued with mysticism and contemplation. In Shinto tradition, crossing a torii is to brush against an invisible boundary — an invitation to purify oneself, to refocus, before returning to the tangible world by stepping back through the gate.

The hues of this malachite echo the soft velvet of moss and its quiet spread across the shaded forest floor. Like moss, the stone appears to grow in waves, expanding through successive circles — an organic unfolding of plant life. This pendant opens the door to a dreamlike realm, where the torii becomes the threshold to a hidden sanctuary nestled in nature, a secret place where time stands still.

In this green haven, trees are draped in a plush carpet, rocks are softened under the moist touch of moss, and the air is bathed in a gentle light, pierced only by a few beams filtering through the canopy. A living silence reigns, broken only by the rustling of leaves and the faint song of unseen birds. It is a landscape suspended in eternal stillness, a stage where one expects a fantastical being to appear — a forest spirit or kami watching over this sacred space.

This pendant is more than a piece of jewelry: it is a fragment of legend, an invitation to cross the threshold into a world embedded in stone.
