The eye of the night necklace

The eye of the night, owl in the forest necklace in silver and labradorite

The Eye of the Night is a seemingly understated silver necklace, simply adorned with a round labradorite cabochon. But this simplicity is merely an illusion, for the stone, with its deep reflections ranging from blue to midnight blue, streaked with dark lines, seems to contain an inner landscape. It evokes a forest observed on a moonlit night, when the silvery light filters through the foliage to blend with the shadows, creating a tangle of ghostly trunks and branches. This seemingly frozen scene gives the illusion of an impenetrable wall of vegetation.

But the true secret of this mysterious forest is revealed on the reverse of the pendant, as if the jewel itself had a visible and a hidden side, like reality and the invisible world. The back of the jewel is openwork: a succession of trunks lets the light pass through the stone, like so many moonbeams filtering between the trees. And in the center of this miniature clearing, an owl appears in full flight.

The owl is a nocturnal bird. In many traditions, it symbolizes ancient wisdom.

For the Greeks, it was the emblem of Athena, goddess of wisdom and strategy.

In this jewel, the owl traverses the dense forest like a scout. It recalls the calm of beings who listen more than they speak.
