Medieval initial, Middle Ages style illuminated letter ring in silver

The "Medieval Initial" ring is an original creation that pays homage to the ancestral art of manuscript illumination. Illumination is a decorative technique that emerged in the early Middle Ages, consisting of embellishing letters, margins, or pages of manuscripts with colorful motifs, often hand-painted with precious pigments, gold, and silver.

On a hammered silver band, intentionally raw and rustic in appearance, we’ve set a rectangular plaque engraved with a personalized initial. The letter is illustrated in the traditional style of medieval historiated initials: richly adorned with scrollwork, foliage, stylized flowers, and sometimes imaginary creatures. This evokes the illuminated initials found in sacred and secular manuscripts of the Middle Ages, such as books of hours, gospel books, or bestiaries.
