Engelis, desert wind pendant in silver and picture jasper

The Engelis pendant is an ode to movement and the power of the elements. It is designed around a teardrop-shaped picture jasper, held in place by prongs that maximize its visibility, highlighting its natural patterns. The downward-pointing tip of the stone guides the eye, emphasizing the idea of flow, a descending breath, much like a wind shaping the dunes.

The upper part of the pendant and its bail are crafted from twisted silver wire, giving the piece a subtly textured elegance and solidity. This metalwork evokes air currents and the rippling patterns of wind-sculpted sand. On either side of the stone, delicately soldered silver discs create the illusion of light wings, following the pendant’s motion. Like an aerial spirit or an invisible messenger, these wings add a sense of dynamism and weightlessness.

The tip of the jasper is adorned with a small silver hemisphere, visually grounding the composition and reinforcing the balance of the design. The back of the pendant features an intricate series of openwork circles, revealing the reverse side of the picture jasper and adding an element of transparency and lightness.

Picture jasper is a fascinating stone, cherished for its natural landscapes, which seem to depict desert vistas, endless plains, or distant mountains. Its cream and brown lines intertwine in soft yet contrasting tones, resembling dunes swept by the wind. Its name, Engelis, derives from the word "angel", inspired by the silver wings framing the stone. This piece tells a story—that of an angel soaring over vast desert landscapes, its passage stirring powerful gusts of wind, lifting the sand and drawing shifting patterns on the earth below. It embodies freedom, the force of the elements, and the connection between sky and earth.
