Queen of the Nile, Egyptian necklace in silver and lapis lazuli

"Queen of the Nile" necklace, a custom-made piece created for a lover of Ancient Egypt and the deep blue beauty of lapis lazuli.

Lapis lazuli was highly prized by the ancient Egyptians for crafting jewelry, amulets, and ritual objects. They were captivated by the deep, celestial blue of this semi-precious stone, which they associated with the divine, protection, and eternity. The natural golden pyrite inclusions within the lapis lazuli evoke the stars scattered across the night sky and the mysterious infinity of the afterlife.

We designed this necklace by drawing inspiration from ancient adornments while giving it a modern touch. It features a delicate sterling silver chain adorned with nine faceted lapis lazuli cabochons, each set on a hand-hammered silver disc. A tenth disc, also adorned with a cabochon, hangs freely at the center of the necklace, adding movement and verticality to the piece. The hammered silver discs evoke the moon, guardian of our starry nights, while their textured surfaces create subtle plays of light reminiscent of lunar craters.

This necklace could easily have found its place among the treasures of Cleopatra, one of Egypt’s most legendary queens and a devoted admirer of lapis lazuli. It is in her honor that we have named this piece "Queen of the Nile."
