Luinil, elven necklace in silver, blue zircon and white labradorite

Luinil is an elven name from the universe of J.R.R. Tolkien. In Sindarin, it means “star of blue light.” In The Silmarillion, Luinil is one of the bright stars that Varda, the Queen of the Stars—also called Elbereth—placed in the sky of Arda at the time of the awakening of the Elves on the shores of Cuiviénen. Even before the rising of the Sun and Moon, these celestial bodies were the first lights observed by the Firstborn. They became symbols of wonder, memory, and immortal beauty for them.

Among these stars, Luinil shines with a bluish clarity, evoking the infinite night sky and the purity of beginnings. In elven mythology, it embodies guidance, serenity, and the link between the visible world and the mystery of the cosmos.

It is this light that this pendant seeks to capture. At its heart rests a teardrop-shaped white labradorite, whose shifting reflections recall the magical radiance of the star Luinil. The stone plays with light: deep blue like a winter sky, bright white like a stellar ray, but also yellow, green, and brown, creating an almost unreal dance of colors, like a miniature aurora.

The labradorite sits on an irregularly cut silver plate, evoking a small leafy bush, both wild and delicate. The stone is embraced by leaves, petals, stems, and flower buds, as if nature itself decided to protect this fragment of a star fallen from the sky. Beneath the cabochon glimmers a blue zircon, a subtle reminder of the celestial vault and the elven name Luinil, the blue star.

This piece is conceived as an elven talisman, a link between the cosmos and nature, between the immutable beauty of the stars and the living fragility of the earth. It carries within it a touch of magic, that of Tolkien’s Elves, whose strength comes from the harmony between stars and forests.
