JOYERIA
INSPIRACIÓN
Who isn’t fascinated by the strange and magnificent bird that is the peacock? Its distinctive call and spectacular plumage have charmed minds since ancient times, giving rise to numerous legends, stories, and symbols.
In Greek mythology, the peacock is the favorite animal of Hera, the wife of Zeus. She placed the famous eyespots on the peacock’s tail in homage to her loyal guardian Argos, who had a hundred eyes. The loss and regrowth of its feathers also make the peacock a symbol of rebirth.
Among the Etruscans, the peacock appears on funeral crowns as a symbol of the eternal soul.
In the Middle Ages, the peacock gradually became a symbol of immortality. Since antiquity, it was observed that its meat decomposed more slowly than that of other animals, making it a symbol of incorruptibility and subsequently, immortality.
In the Middle East, the peacock was also considered a symbol of the incorruptibility of the soul and as the guardian of the Tree of Life.
In India, the peacock is a symbol of fertility. It is associated with the Hindu god Krishna, who wears a peacock feather in his hair. Some gods, like Krishna, Kartikeya, and Vahana, use the peacock as a mount to fly over the world.
The motif of this ring represents stylized peacock feathers, evoking this elegant and majestic bird often seen as an ornamental bird in gardens, especially in Mexico. This silver ring, with its finely engraved eyespots, captures the essence of the peacock and carries the many symbols of rebirth, immortality, and fertility associated with this remarkable bird. It is a piece of art that tells a story rich in myths and traditions, connecting the past and the present through its refined design.
